ComingSoon.net has posted the official synopsis for Universal Pictures’ Hellboy 2: The Golden Army and it goes like this…
With a signature blend of action, humor and character-based spectacle, the saga of the world’s toughest, kitten-loving hero from Hell continues to unfold in “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.” Bigger muscle, badder weapons and more ungodly villains arrive in an epic vision of imagination from director Guillermo del Toro.
After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it’s up to the planet’s toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it’s time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).
Along with his expanding team in the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Development–pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), aquatic empath Abe (Doug Jones) and protoplasmic mystic Johann–the BPRD will travel between the surface strata and the unseen magical one, where creatures of fantasy become corporeal. And Hellboy, a creature of two worlds who’s accepted by neither, must choose between the life he knows and an unknown destiny that beckons him.
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army opens in theaters on August 1, 2008.
Start Date for Hellboy 2 Confirmed
Jones to play three characters in sequel.
by IGN Staff
March 20, 2007 – Doug Jones, the actor and creature performer most recently spotted as the titular faun in Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, has confirmed recent talk that has del Toro’s next film, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, pegged for a May production start date.
“We start in May, and I can’t wait,” Jones, who plays Abe Sapien in the series, tells The Comics Continuum. “We’re filming in Budapest and I’ll probably be there for five or six months.”
Jones also confirmed during the chat that he will be providing the voice for Abe in the sequel as well as the physical performance (his voice was dubbed over by David Hyde Pierce in the original film). The actor revealed too that in addition to Abe, he will also appear in the picture as two new characters called “Angel of Death” and “The Chamberlain.”

Same here. I had reservations, but I decided to go when a girlfriend of mine told me how much she loved it.
No, I’m not a real fan of animation. Was it good?

Hellboy, welcome back!
So just found out (I know it’s old news, but I’m old too) that Hellboy 2 is now under way (thanks scifichick). Thankfully Guillermo del Toro will be heading up this one, too. I really like every movie I’ve seen by him – although IR…

Oh Oh! I gotta see this! I actually enjoyed the first movie quite alot.
My kids want to lynch me though because I have no interest in seeing Spiderman 3. Zip, zilcho, nada. Trailer did nothing for me. I may be spidey’d out. They think i’ve become the anti-mom.

I’m hoping the second one is better than the first one. I wasn’t all too keen on the first one. Maybe there’s something wrong with me since everyone else seemed to like it.
